What is the average thickness of the penis? Science responds

Maybe every man has taken measurements of his penis at some point in his life. And is the size of the penis, whether it is the largest or not, something that always arouses curiosity. The penis has different shapes and sizes. For example. some are extremely curved, this is called Peyronie’s syndrome. Others are also distinguished by their small or large size.

In this article, we will study the importance of size and look at the measurements of the penis. In addition, there is some confusion when interpreting data on the size of male genitalia. Most people think that the thickness is the circumference of the penis, when in fact it is not.

Clarify some concepts about penis size

There is a lot of talk about the importance of thickness. Experts claim that more than length, thickness has a big impact when it comes to inducing pleasure. But … How thick is the penis? Well, below we tell you what each measurement of the male reproductive organ means.

When you know the size of the penis, you need to know the difference between length, girth, and diameter. In addition, the member has two different measurements: when it is flaccid and when it is erect.

  • length: Length refers to the size of the penis along, that is, from the base of the penis to the glans.
  • the circumference: A lot of people confuse circumference with thickness, but they’re actually different things. The circumference is measured with a tape measure and matches the rounded shape of the penis.
  • the thickness: Thickness is also called diameter. It is measured with a device called a king’s foot. In the following image, you can see the difference between the circumference and the thickness (diameter).

How big is the penis

Since penis size is one of the existential questions of most men, a lot of research has tried to find out the average penis size. This existential question aroused the curiosity of a group of scientists who conducted a study to find out the average size of the penis.

This research was published in the BJU International (British Journal of Urology International), covered over 15,000 subjects worldwide and determined the average height. The results show that the average number of people with an erect penis is 13.12 centimeters long and 11.66 centimeters in circumference. At rest, the average penis length is 9.16 centimeters and a circumference of 9.31 centimeters. According to a study by the Spanish Association of Andrology, the thickness of the erect penis is 3.82 cm.

For the curious, the world’s largest penis belongs to Roberto Esquivel Cabrera, 54, Mexican national. It measures neither more nor less than 48 centimeters. The second largest known penis is that of American actor Jonah Falcon, with an erection of 34 inches and 24 inches when flaccid.

    Does size matter?

Another of these questions that are asked not only by men but also by women is: “Does size really matter?” Science has also found an answer to this question. According to a study published in the Spanish journal ABC, the Australian National University (Canberra) found that larger penises appeal to straight women. Another research, this time conducted by the University of New Mexico confirms these results.

And what about the thickness? Studies have also found results that claim it’s more important than length, at least in overnight sex. According to the University of California (UCLA) in Los Angeles, women prefer men with a wider limb for occasional fling. However, when it comes to a relationship, the same study shows that it isn’t that important anymore. This research involved 41 women who were asked to review different penis models and choose their favorite.
